Early Warnings Analysis of Chinese Food Export in Q1 of 2022

 

From Jan. to Mar. 2022, the European Union, the United States, Japan, South Korea and Canada reported 506 batches of food of early warning to China, involving 29 categories of products. This article coming from WeChat: Food Safety Bellwether, makes a summary of the sampling inspection of early warning to China in the Q1 of 2022, gives analysis on products from five countries/organizations: EU, the US, Japan, Korea, Canada which have issued relatively more early warnings of products to China, and, offers reference to the Industry.

 

1.Overview of the data of early warnings to China

-It can be seen from statistics that between Jan. to Mar. in 2022 most of the products of early warnings to China are from the US with the amount of 246 batches, the less ones are from Korea.

-Among all the products of early warnings to China, top 3 categories which have been reported the most are food-related products, vegetables and their products, aquatic products and their products, relatively with the proportion of 18.77%, 17.98% and 13.44%。

-The major unqualified reason for the products of early warnings to China are unqualified quality index, pesticide residue exceeding the standard, nonstandard labels, etc.

 

2.US early warnings to China

-There are 246 batches of products whose import has been rejected and automatically detained by the US, involving 16 categories of products. Top 3 categories which have been reported are vegetables and their products, aquatic products and their products, bakery food, and the batch amount is relatively 56 batches, 42 batches, 40 batches, relatively accounting  for 22.76%, 17.07%, 16.26% of the overall categories.

-The major unqualified reason for the products of US early warnings to China are illegal addition, nonstandard labels and marking, pesticide residue exceeding the standard, etc.

 

3.Koreas early warnings to China

-There are 93 batches of products of Korea’s early warnings to China, involving 17 categories of products. Top 2 categories which have been early warned are food-related products, vegetables and their products, relatively with 41 batches, 29 batches, the proportion of them are 39.05%, 27.62%.

-The major unqualified reason for the products of Korean early warnings to China are unqualified quality index, pesticide residue exceeding the standard, illegal use of food additives, etc.

 

4.EU early warnings to China

-There are 85 batches of products reported by EU early warning system, involving 14 categories. Food-related products are the category that has been reported the most, with 40 batches and the proportion of it is 47.06% in overall categories.

-The major unqualified reason for the products of EU early warnings to China are unqualified quality index, pesticide residue exceeding the standard, etc.

 

5.Japans early warnings to China

-There are 50 batches of products of Japan’s early warnings to China, involving 9 categories of products. The products which have been mostly early warned are food-related products, with 18 batches, the proportion of it is 34.62% in overall categories.

-The major unqualified reason for the products of Japan’s early warnings to China are unqualified quality index, biotoxin exceeding the standard, pesticide residue exceeding the standard, etc.

 

6.Canadas early warnings to China

-There are 32 batches of products of Canada’s early warnings to China, involving 4 categories of products. The product which has been mostly early warned is special dietary food, with 20 batches, the proportion of it is 62.50% in overall categories.

-The major unqualified reason for the products of Canada’s early warnings to China are nonstandard labels and microorganism exceeding the standard, etc.

 

7.Conclusion

From the early warnings report of China’s main export trade countries, main food categories which have been early warned are food-related products, aquatic products and their products, vegetables and their products and the report reasons include unqualified quality index, pesticide residue exceeding the standard, illegal use of food additives, microorganism exceeding the standard, incomplete product materials. It’s suggested that export enterprises understand the food related policies and regulations of the exporting countries, pay attention to the changes of regulations, especially the limit requirements of various hazards, do well in export inspection to ensure that each index comply with the requirements of the exporting countries.
